As Chief Digital Officer, Dr. Patel developed and implemented a comprehensive, clinically grounded digital transformation strategy to modernize healthcare delivery. His leadership encompassed enterprise informatics, including the rollout and optimization of Cerner and later Epic electronic health record systems. He directed the digital health team in deploying innovative tools such as chatbots, enhanced telehealth platforms, remote patient monitoring systems, automated patient engagement campaigns, online provider scheduling, and bedside diabetic retinopathy screening. Dr. Patel also advanced applied clinical innovation through research exploring the use of virtual reality and 3D printing technologies in care delivery. His scholarly and professional contributions include numerous national presentations addressing topics such as digital transformation, governance, workflow optimization, health equity, telehealth, artificial intelligence, customer relationship management, healthcare access, and population health.

Dr. Patel is one of only two physicians globally to receive Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award for his contributions to healthcare technology. He is a frequent contributor to Becker’s Hospital Review, HIMSS, HLTH, HFMA and other national forums.
